The Vintage Pizza Pie Truck: meet the "Gertrude"
1938 Chevrolet Maple Leaf, onto 1977 Suburban chassis
The plan was always to find a nice looking old fashioned truck as both a mode of transportation for the oven and as part of the presentation, but this...This is way beyond what we expected! We love our Canadian Maple Leaf Chevy!
A little truck history....
After sixteen years of enjoying it, Ted and Jessie Baker decided it was time to find a new home for the ’38 Maple Leaf that they acquired in Okanagan town of Salmon Arm, B.C. 30 years ago.
As founding members & officers of the Maple Leaf Chevy/GMC truck club, this was the perfect hobby vehicle for Ted and Jessie. Mounted on a ’77 Suburban 4 X 4 chassis, it’s powered by a 350 V-8 fed by a four bbl carburetor through a Weiand intake and is fitted with throaty dual exhausts. Admirers are drawn to the beautiful Chrome face and classic deep maroon color. This truck sure gets a lot of attention! Workmanship, by Paul Brant’s custom metal shop is impeccable.
